Virginia Rivers Bulkeley

Pelvic Health Physiotherapist
Qualifications: BSc (Hons), MSc, MCSP, MPOGP

Virginia is a Clinical Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist. Virginia graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 2008 and completed her postgraduate training at University College London Hospitals, where she later led the Women’s Health Physiotherapy service. Virginia joined University Hospital Southampton as an Advanced Physiotherapist in Women’s Health in 2022 and completed her Advanced Clinical Practice (Pelvic Health) MSc in 2023. Virginia has over 15 years experience within the NHS with a well established clinical expertise in the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction and persistent pelvic pain, on which she teaches and presents both nationally and internationally.

Virginia provides compassionate, personalised treatment for women with pelvic floor symptoms affecting bladder, bowel or sexual function and specialist support for women living with persistent pelvic pain such as bladder pain syndrome, vulval pain or vaginismus, endometriosis or post-operative pain.

Virginia has been awarded national research grants and prizes for her work in the treatment of vaginal mesh associated complications and persistent pelvic pain. Virginia is a full member of the Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) and is Chair of their national Mesh Centres Committee.
