Mr Ward is a Consultant ENT Surgeon based at Portsmouth University Hospital NHS Trust. He offers consultations for all aspects of Ear, Nose and Throat disease, and has a special interest in Head and Neck Cancer, Facial skin cancers, Thyroid, Parathyroid and Salivary Gland Surgery.

Mr Ward underwent registrar training in the Wessex region, working alongside a number of Surgeons across Hampshire, Dorset and South East Wiltshire. He was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Specialist training in 2017, and won the Gold Medal for the highest score in the United Kingdom in the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons Examination in Ear Nose and Throat Surgery in 2016.

Following his UK based training, Mr Ward underwent further training in Robotic Head and Neck Surgery in Philadelphia, USA, and spent a year working at the world renowned Queensland Head and Neck and Skull Base Unit in Brisbane, Australia. He currently chairs both the Head and Neck and Thyroid Cancer multidisciplinary teams at Portsmouth University Hospital, and is also the lead clinician for Head and Neck Cancer at the Wessex Cancer Alliance.

In addition to his cancer work, Mr Ward is one of the highest volume thyroid and parathyroid surgeons in the UK, performing approximately 100 cases per year. He is an advocate of innovation in surgery, and is one of only a handful of surgeons in the UK with extensive experience of continuous intraoperative nerve monitoring, parathyroid autofluoresence, and rapid access parathyroid hormone monitoring. Mr Ward also has experience in facial reanimation surgery and was recently featured on BBC news with the extended team in Portsmouth.
