Dr Rutherford has specialist interests in gynaecological and pelvic floor imaging, neck ultrasound and general oncology imaging. Dr Rutherford joined University Hospital Southampton as a consultant in 2006, predominantly working in the oncology imaging department.  Dr Rutherford works in head and neck one-stop clinics, providing ultrasound scans and fine needle aspiration procedures (using a fine needle to take a sample of cells for testing) as well as performing other general ultrasound examinations. Dr Rutherford’s work in the oncology imaging department involves reporting CT and MRI examinations as well as participating in multidisciplinary meetings within several specialist areas. She also has an interest in education with a role as the Royal College of Radiologists’ Regional Specialty Adviser for Wessex.
