Mr Philip Stather
Philip studied medicine at the University of Leicester and undertook specialist training in East Anglia. During his training, Philip was the trainee representative on the Specialty Advisory Committee for Vascular Surgery, and President of the Rouleaux Club (trainee society). He was appointed as a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon in 2020. Philip has an interest in both open and endovascular aortic surgery, carotid surgery, lower limb bypass surgery and minimally invasive venous surgery.
Philip has a strong academic background including a PGC in research, education and leadership from the University of Cambridge. He has developed a free online teaching platform and he has an interest in surgical training. Philip was awarded the British Journal of Surgery Prize for his MD into abdominal aortic aneurysms. Philip has published over 60 peer reviewed papers across a wide range of vascular specialties, set-up randomised controlled trials, and set-up the Vascular and Endovascular Research Network. Philip also has an interest in developing technology and innovation in vascular surgery.
