Mr Duncan Avis

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Qualifications: MBChB, MSc, FRCS (Trauma & Orth)

Duncan Avis is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery.

He graduated from the University of Bristol in 2004 and went on to complete surgical training in Bristol, the South West and South Wales. He then moved to the Wessex region for specialist orthopaedic training, also completing an MSc in Trauma Surgery. Mr Avis was awarded FRCS Trauma & Orthopaedics, followed by a year on the internationally renowned British Society for Surgery of The Hand (BSSH) Fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth and Royal Orthopaedic Hospitals in Birmingham.

Mr Avis is one of a minority of hand surgeons who have been awarded the British Diploma in Hand Surgery, for which he is now a tutor, and as such is knowledgeable on the latest evidence, management and surgical techniques.

Mr Avis was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust in 2017. He is Clinical Director for the Orthopaedic Department. He has a busy elective and trauma practice and is involved in teaching and research.
