Dr Mark Wotherspoon is a sports injury specialist consultant, and founding fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine, with extensive Team Doctor experience. A renowned sport injury specialist, he has been Club Doctor at Fulham FC and London Irish, and is currently the lead Medical Officer at Southampton FC.
Dr Wotherspoon was also the Chief Medical Officer for England and Great Britain hockey, attending two Commonwealth games and one Olympic games in this role. Dr Wotherspoon has also been a Medical Officer for the England cricket team since 2007, and is currently Lead Medical Officer for the Senior Squad, and Chief Medical Officer for Hampshire Cricket Club.
Dr Wotherspoon qualified from St George’s Hospital in 1985 and completed his GP vocational training in 1991, having worked in Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Exercise medicine and A&E. He was a Principal in General Practice till 2010. Dr Wotherspoon completed his diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine in 1992 and has worked in Sport and Exercise Medicine since then.
