MSK Triage / Treatment

The MSK Clinical Assessment & Triage Service (ICAT) also known as MSK Triage Service, is an alternative to existing hospital services for musculoskeletal assessment and treatment. The aim of the service is to direct patients to the right place first time with all the necessary tests completed before they see the appropriate clinician.

The expected outcomes for our service are to:

  • Improve the clinical outcomes for patients
  • Reduce waiting times for patients with musculoskeletal conditions
  • Transfer activity from an acute hospital setting to the community
  • Improve the clinical pathway by developing joint working between primary and secondary care providers and clinicians
  • Reduce health inequalities by improving access to the service
